Understanding fraudulent calls, SMS, emails and fake promotional materials

• Airstar Bank reminds customers to stay vigilant against suspicious text messages. Do not disclose personal information or bank account details to unknown or unverified senders. Avoid clicking on any hyperlinks in such messages or following instruction to transfer funds, as this may result in financial loss. If you have doubts about the caller's identity, please contact our Customer Service Hotline (852) 3718 1818 or the ""Anti-Scam Helpline 18222"" for verification.
 • Airstar Bank will not use Voice Response System, emails SMS or phone calls to request customers to provide their Airstar Bank Online User ID and password, other types of password/PIN, personal information or sensitive information.
 • Fraudsters may impersonate Bank or other financial institutions staff and contact customers via phone call, SMS, emails, promotion materials or message from instant messaging app. They may falsely claim to offer “preferential interest rates” to lure customers into applying for personal loans or credit cards and request submission of personal documents such as ID copies, payroll slips, proofs of address and bank statements. They may also ask customers to deposit funds into designated account(s) as “security deposits” or “handling fees”.
 • Fraudsters may use pre-recorded voice messages to call customers, falsely claiming that there are irregularities in their bank accounts. They may ask for sensitive information such as account numbers, usernames, and login passwords, or request fund transfers to “assist with investigations.” They may also impersonate courier staff, local or mainland law enforcement officers, relatives, or business partners, using various excuses to trick customers into providing personal information or transferring money.
 • To increase credibility and reduce suspicion, fraudsters may present highly realistic staff IDs, business cards, or documents, and may even provide fake staff numbers or hotline numbers for verification.
 • Always verify that the SMS sender is #AIRSTAR, #Airstar and #AirStar. Our SMS messages will not contain any links.
 • Do not click on links in emails, text messages, or websites casually. Avoid logging into suspicious websites or downloading attachments.
 • In addition to verifying with the relevant organizations, the public can also use the “Scameter” tool or the “Scameter App” on the CyberDefender website to check suspicious information.
 • If in doubt, please call the ""Anti-Scam Helpline 18222"" for assistance.
